Richard Acree Featured in FL Herald Tribune Article about Accessible Bathrooms

Richard Acree was featured in an article about accessible bathrooms published in the Florida Herald Tribune by Michael Moore Jr., Staff Writer in Sarasota. The article, Aging in Place, Steps to Make Your Bathroom Safer, explains that there is a lot to consider when weighing the possibility of growing older within the comforts of your own home.

In the article, Richard Acree, an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) inspector and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) says, “Believe it or not, the bathroom is the most dangerous room in your house. This may be hard to imagine for those of us who immediately think of the kitchen when considering potential safety hazards within the home. The shower can be a really dangerous place in particular because it is wet, your vision is often obscured by water, you might be frequently closing your eyes, and there’s not much to grab onto. So when a fall occurs, it can happen very quickly.”
